I have an old box fan I’d like to use to charge a battery and run reading lights on my sailboat when out for extended periods. Is there something I can switch around to make it into a power producing windmill?
Bolt a blade to a auto alternator. Use to charge 12volt batt. Buy inverter for AC usage. 3 ft blade should work.
I’m doing a project for my economics class and I have to explain several different ways in which transitioning to renewable energy and relying less on fossil fuels will effect the economy. So far all I really have is that it will create more jobs. I have to be able to write a 5 page paper on this. Please help, this is due tomorrow!
Using less coal will mean fewer coal miners.
Using less petroleum will mean fewer guys working on those deep ocean well drilling rigs.
using more Wind will mean more money for the farmers that have windmills on their land. and Studying the effects of killing birds from the blades.
What have you done to get off the grid? Solar? Generator – powered by what? Your own windmill? Or…? And have you been able to disconnect your home completely from the power company and their electrical grids, or do you still rely on the power company as a back-up or auxilliary power source?
I own a windmill it produces 2-3 times the electricity that I need and so the rest is sold back to the power company. I will not go off grid because to me that is a waste of energy; power is lost when it needs to be "pushed" into batteries to be stored and when the batteries are fully charged the turbine would need to be shut down. So by not using batteries and staying on the grid I am supplying clean energy to 1 or 2 of my neighbors. So the way I see it I am twice as green as people who live off the grid.
