how can build my own windmill electric generator?

mill blades length, angle, speed, hight,

The starting point is deciding how much power you need. The second thing you need to do is obtain average wind speed data for your area.

Those two things will determine much of the remainder of your design. Another factor to consider is how uniform the wind tends to be. A larger wind generator with a large sweep will be capable of providing a greater overall output, but can’t react quickly to changing wind speed and direction. Gusting winds can tear up a large machine whereas a smaller one can react more quickly to the changes.

Renewable Energy?

If you wanted to start a career designing and working with renewable energy like solar, wind, hydroelectric ect., what would your job title be?
If I were to start a career studying renewable energy specifically solar and trying to improve on it in the world, what would my occupation title be?
I dont want to work as the person actually buiding it, I want to be the person that figures out how the energy works. I want to work basically with all energy types but want to work on find the best way to store and produce energy. More lik a scientist wrather than an engineer.

It would likely depend on which of those energy systems you were working with.
If you generalize, and work on all of them together, you may be called a ‘Jack of all trades, master of none.’

Why is Ted Kennedy against Free Nantucket wind turbines.?

For several years now the Senator and many other special interest groups located the area have been opposed to setting up offshore windmill farms that will supply the whole of Nantucket Island with free electricity. I’ve heard alot of wild rumors so I will not start spreading them. What’s the deal with that. If it gets down to nobody wants any power generator in their backyard then well . . . Is this thing even close to the land where people could see it?

Probably he’s trying to save the view or some such. We have some around here and you can see them from over five miles away, so they’d have to be pretty far offshore.

Is mechatronics engineering applied in renewable energy sector?

I am a mechatronics student and I would like to apply my education in a project related to renewable energy.
I have a Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering. Mechatronics is my postgrad study. Maybe that’s why I am directed towards energy applications for mechatronics.

Hardly. Mechatronics is mostly used in the entertainment industry. As far as I can tell the mains application is mostly a high tech version of puppeteering.

If you want to go into renewable energy, you might want to study chemical engineering, mechanical engineering or electrical engineering instead and specialize appropriately.

A movie from the 80’s with aliens that loved coke?

I remember them making these little straws and windmills were their home I think… I thought it was max and me but I cant find it anywhere. Any help on the title of this movie?

Mac and Me
I used to love it! didnt think anyone remembered it!

which would be cheaper to acquire? a 1MW solar power system or a 1MW windmill power system?

A windmill will be way cheaper.
However, you may have to get more permits, if you place it on your roof there are vibrations to take into account, and in a village or city the other buildings slow down the wind; so you don’t get the full 1MW.
Solar is easier, doesn’t need permits. Just put it on your roof and leave it there for 25 years. It is way more expensive than the windmill thoug; think 2-3 times more expensive!

Compare traditional methods of making electricity versus renewable energy sources. Is one method better & why?

I believe that renewable energy sources is a better method, but it is more expensive. If you could also provide statistics/facts I would appreciate it!

Wind power is actually very cheap, but the only problem is it can’t provide baseload power. It only provides power when the wind is blowing. However, it can provide power at 7-10 cents per kWh, competetive with coal.

Geothermal is also looking extremely promising, and can also potentially provide affordable power. It can provide power 24/7 as well (baseload power).

Concentrated solar thermal is another great option, and can store energy to be used as baseload. It can be potentially as cheap as coal.

windmill powered waterfall?

I have an 8 foot windmill. How can I harness the power from the windmill to power a small waterfall?

connect a small pump to wind mill to lift water from a well/stream/pond/any water source.normal pump cannot lift beyond 30feet depth.using direct coupling or by belt transmission pump can be activated.you can take the water delivery pipe to the place where you want the water to fall from;but this will work as long as wind mill is working.if you want a continuous water fall you need to build a tank and regulate inflow

What is the most efficient renewable energy source?

What is the most efficient renewable energy source?

Yes its Hydro electric, but it has been delisted as being environmentally friendly. It kills fish. I think geo-thermal is next up. Wind is third. Solar isn’t worth mentioning. I’m measuring efficiency by cost of developping and maintaining the energy source. Every dollar you put in, you get this many watts. And in response to wind being unpredictable, so is solar. There might be clouds in the sky too. I like wind the best, since Geothermal is severly limited by sites. You could tell which is the most cost effective, by what percent of our energy comes from that pareticular source. By the way, we could also make nuclear plant renewable too. I think we can build feeder plants that continously regenerates transuranium. Its not very environmentally friendly.

How do you harness the energy of a windmill?

im 17 and im very interested in engineering especially energy wise
i like to make things better like windmills or solar panels

how do u harness the energy of a windmill and better yet wats the best way to make one from home?

You dont
Windmills are for milling grains ,and are run by the Miller .
who does the Milling
that is why they are called WindMILLS

but few operate today ,the few that are left are tourist attractions ,Restaurants or even private homes.
