Where can I find a Smartdrive motor from a Fisher Paykel washing maching ? I have googled it many times and I find plenty of info for making a windmill generator out of one of these but I can not find a retailer to buy one from.

Find a local repair shop that services that brand and see if they would be willing to order it for you. You may need to order it directly from them or buy the washing machine to get it.

I love the idea of offshore windmills BUT….

Hopefully the cables are properly insulated and will not cause stray electric fields. I doubt that a shark would mind too much anyway. they will just hunt somewhere else.

Could not you think of a better place than a wheel hub to add more complications? The small windmill should acquire its energy only from natural wind and never on the expense of car motion.
It would be better installed at the top of your house.
