What would you need to do to a brushless DC motor to turn it into a generator?

I am new to learning about generators and dont know much about DC electricity. I am experimenting with building a windmill for household power. Would machining the shaft and placing magnets in it work? I am first building one with homemade coils and earth magnets, but somebody suggested using a dc motor housing and thought i would check into it. Thanks for any input.

First of all,a brushless DC motor needs an alternative arrangement that could cause the reversal of input direct current for developing a constant torque in armature.This may be achieved with the help of any electronic inverter connected to the input terminals of motor as the brushes in a dc motor actually act as mechanical inverter.

What percent of renewable energy sources do energy providers use?

I have to give a speech for a class where i have to persuade the audience to vote for a bill which requires all energy providers in the US to have at least certain percentage of its energy source from renewable sources. I need to know how much they use now, so that i have an idea of how much the required percent would be reasonable. If you know any representative who has proposed a similar bill, please let me know.

How to make a DC motor into a wind generator?

I need to make a wind turbine for a science project, i have everything else sorted.

I’m using a DC motor from an old remote controlled car that used a 7.2 volt battery. Is there anything i need to do to this before it can be attached to the spinning shaft of the windmill, or can i hook up the wires to a lightbulb and let the thing spin?

You might want to gear it up, using a large gear or pull on the wind blade shaft, and a small gear or pulley on the generator.

What is the difference between the Home Page and the About Us Page on a Website?

Usually, most people reserve the "about us" page to give background on the company, how long they have been in business, other offerings that the business has, locations of the business, what the business does, etc. Its also a good place to put owner (or management) information and bio’s.

The home page should not be overloaded with that kind of info. It should be brief and to the point telling the visitor what the site is for, a quick highlight of the products, and have navigation to other parts of the site.

am making a Website about Windmills in Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire, but I don’t know what information to put on the Home Page, I know the About Us Page has information about the company, but what information do I include on the Home Page if I put all the information about the Website on the About Us Page.

Sometimes there isn’t any difference. It depends sometimes how much info you have on certain things. Usually however you have a homepage giving descriptions of what the website is about and the about page about the people involved, experience etc.
In your case about Windmills in Notts and Lincs you could put a few paragraphs of introduction about the aim of the website, then the about page could be about the people involved. There is no hard and fast rules.

windmill, power inverter?

I want to use a small windmill, about 1 to one and a half feet in diameter, spin it in the wind, have it produce 12 volts of electricity, run the electricity to a power inverter, then I can plug whatever into the power inverter. Or could i hook something else up to produce electricity to go to the power inverter? something simple? Im working within a small space. thanks for your help.

It is difficult to answer your question as you have not indicated what you want to run on the output of the generator that is driven by the windmill. Were you wanting to run a television set, you could not as the voltage would be too poorly regulated in most circumstance and were you wanting to run a pizza oven, the output of the system you have described, would be insufficient. With a windmill that is 1.5 feet in diameter, only a very small alternator could be driven. In such a case, you could use the alternator to charge a battery which could in turn supply a UPS unit that supplies the television set. The most common option to a windmill is a photovoltaic array but they are very expensive. Reply and say what you actually want to achieve and people will be more able to give you precise information.

how to make an improvised electric generator?

how could i make an improvised electric generator for my physics project using some wires and magnets? first i wanted to make a small ferris wheel but my motor was spinning too fast and the wheel can’t cope up with the forces. so i decided to make a windmill using the wheel. thanks for those who could answer.

To make a strong enough electric generator, you have to use an old starter motor from a car. Try searching for one in a junkyard. They’re easy to find. You can make a large enough wheel and it won’t spin too fast. If it needs to be 100% custom, you can take the motor, open it up and see how it is made, then make one of your own! A car’s starting motor can make enough power to power a sound system or something like that. Maybe a computer as well. But you’ll need a DC->AC convertor for that. Try it! It will be really fascinating to see it happen!

If I want to create renewable energy technology what would I want to major in in college?

I want to create renewable energy product that are extremely efficient and are affordable to any level of social class, I also want to create more efficient air purifiers to clean up and keep clean our environment. Then I want to produce enough energy to have a energy company to use only renewable energy, and be bigger then even GE.
